Here is the first of several songs I’m working on toward a kids album. This one is about my grandpa Omer, my uncle Duane, and my dad. I hope you had people like them in your life while growing up. This song references specific memories that have always stuck with me.
Love,
Aaron
LYRICS:
LIVER AND ONIONS ON TUESDAYS
ME AND GRANDPA AT NELSON’S CAFE
YUCK, OH, ISH, THE SMELL OF THAT DISH
BUT I LIKED GOING THERE ANYWAY
I SUPPOSE IT WAS JUST TO BE NEAR HIM
OH, THE THINGS WE ALL DO TO BE SEEN
I WISH LIVER AND ONIONS ON TUESDAYS
HAD BEEN EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK
WELL MY UNCLE DUANE WAS THE BARBER
RODE MY BIKE FOR A HAIRCUT ‘ROUND NOON
‘CAUSE I KNEW HE WOULD SOON TAKE A LUNCH BREAK
AND A GOOD CHANCE HE’D TAKE ME WITH TOO
I SUPPOSE IT WAS JUST TO BE NEAR HIM
OH THE THINGS THAT WE DO BUT DON’T SAY
IF ONLY MY HAIR HAD GROWN FASTER
I’D GET IT CUT EVERYDAY
SETTING UP CHAIRS SUNDAY MORNINGS
I WENT WITH MY DAD TO HELP OUT
SOMETIMES WE’D STOP FOR A DONUT
AND A COFFEE WAY, WAY TOO STOUT
I SUPPOSE IT WAS JUST TO BE NEAR HIM
OH THE THINGS THAT WE DO BUT DON’T SAY
WELL I SURE WISH SUNDAY MORNINGS
WOULD COME AROUND EVERYDAY
LIVER AND ONIONS ON TUESDAYS
ME AND GRANDPA AT NELSON’S CAFE
YUCK, OH, ISH, THE SMELL OF THAT DISH
BUT I LIKED GOING THERE ANYWAY
