Did you lose someone important to you? I just learned of you yesterday and so many of your songs go straight to my heart! I lost my son 18 months ago.

I’m so sorry about your son. I can’t even imagine what you must be going through. I have four boys, the oldest just turned ten yesterday. I wrote a song one time called “Things I Can’t Think About.” It’s about the thought of losing a child. (I don’t know why I write these sad songs!) To know you’ve actually experienced it—my heart goes out to you.
To answer your question, I’m thankful to have never lost any immediate family. I lost a school friend (I wrote about in this super sad song called Hello, Lou). But that was a long time ago. I lost one of my closest friends in 2019. I wrote a farewell to him here.
I’m not sure that’s why my songs go straight to your heart, though (ha!). It’s probably just that my vibe is a bit melancholy and my topics are often very personal. Trust me, if I could write happy dance songs, I would!
